a computer application specialised for dissemination and administration of ERs, including support for assessment of learning outcomes. An LMS may be considered a CMS specifically developed for management of ERs, with pronounced interaction capabilities and sophisticated user management, allowing participants to be organised into cohorts, groups and roles. Moodle and Blackboard are examples of LMSs; EeLP is a Moodle instance, customised to support, amongst other things, distance-learning provision within ELIXIR.
